We are thrilled that you have chosen to learn more about New Community Jewish High School. We look forward to introducing you to our vibrant and academically rigorous school community where intellectual imagination and ethical action are inseparable. As you explore options for high school, we invite you to consider the qualities you want your child to possess upon graduation.
- Our graduates attend colleges around the country equipped with optimism and the tools to make constructive and meaningful changes in our world. They are intellectually curious and understand the value of their roles as active participants in their community.
- Our alumni, whether current students at UC Berkeley, University of Arizona, Yale or any one of the more than 200 colleges to which they annually receive offers of admission, report feeling academically prepared and confident to move ahead in their young adult lives.
- Our alumni who are college graduates are working in a variety of professional positions at prestigious companies across the country and/or pursuing advanced degrees in medicine, film, law, international relations, graphic design, dentistry, psychology, business, education, special education, Jewish nonprofit work, entertainment, fundraising, and more!
Our student body is comprised of students from over 50 public and private middle and high schools, with a wide range of Jewish backgrounds. Our students work closely with college advisors to prepare their individual course loads from options in Honors, AP, and grade level classes, reflecting a range of average to exceptional academic abilities. Our students involve themselves in clubs, competitive sports, theatre and performing arts, student council, community service, and much, much more.
At NCJHS, we challenge each student both academically and personally. We provide students with a moral and ethical lens along with knowledge so that they may take action to better the world. Our educational program provides students with the context for valuing kindness and engaging in ethical action. Our faculty members are role models of courage, joy, and caring. As a team, our faculty, staff, and administrators seek to support teenagers as they navigate through some of the most challenging years of their lives. Incoming students, embraced by the warmth of their classmates, teachers, and school administrators, express deep gratitude for the kindness and compassion that is our school’s trademark.
In time, each student at NCJHS comes to realize that they can. Once this happens, they do.
The best way to get to know “New Jew,” as we are affectionately called, is to visit us. Please join us for our Open House on November 9, 2014 @ 10:00 am; also choose a day for your student to spend time at school, hosted by our Student Ambassadors. Let them experience firsthand the culture of kindness within our student body and let them observe the personal attention students receive in classes with an average size of fifteen.
