College Guidance
The philosophy of the New Community Jewish High School College Guidance Department mirrors the overall philosophy of the school: we strive for excellence. In our view, excellence in college guidance is achieved when students, possessing a vast array of individual differences, are effectively matched with particular colleges/universities. Such an outcome, we believe, can only result via a highly personalized guidance process for each student.
The New Community Jewish High School College Guidance program:
- Provides highly individualized counseling throughout the entire college application process that reflects students’ interests, personality, and intellectual goals.
- Provides colleges with a comprehensive view of each student, made possible by the intimate nature of our school and College Guidance staff-student ratio of about 1-50.
- Actively conveys the unique attributes of each student to college admissions officers.
- Facilitates the creation of in-depth letters of recommendation from faculty and College Guidance counselors which are highly regarded by college admissions officers.
New Community Jewish High School’s academic curriculum prepares all of our students for a college/university education and our college guidance department helps each student find their unique path. Whether this path leads to a campus within the University of California or California State University systems, an Ivy League University, a small liberal arts college, an art or technical institute, a college in Israel, a two-year community college, or the military, each student is supported and advised throughout his/her journey.
