Mission & Philosophy
Mission Statement
The Mission of New Community Jewish High School is to raise up a new generation of Jewish leaders for whom Jewish values and tradition shape and guide their vision, and for whom knowledge creates possibilities for moral action, good character, and shalom.
Philosophy Statement
New Community Jewish High School believes that high school is the best time and place to help Jewish teens develop a lifelong appreciation of, and connection to, Judaism and Am Yisrael (the Jewish people). Sociologists tell us that it is during the teenage years, as our children emerge as independent, social beings, that we have the greatest opportunity to make a positive permanent impact upon their values and cultural orientation. New Community Jewish High School cherishes the opportunity to make a lasting difference in the Jewish lives of our students.
New Community Jewish High School is committed to excellence in general education. A curriculum equally composed of world literature, science and the arts, on one hand, and Jewish texts, history, and language, on the other, will not just complement but facilitate the objective of preparing high school students for college and adult life, and to be exemplary citizens of America and the world.
New Community Jewish High School believes that the creation of the State of Israel is one of the seminal events in Jewish history. Recognizing the significance of the State and its national institutions, we seek to instill in our students an attachment to the State of Israel and its people, as well as a sense of responsibility for their welfare.
New Community Jewish High School is committed to blending the quest for knowledge with the acquisition of moral character in a way that has practical consequences. The school aspires to produce exceptional students and “A” human beings. Inspired by the deeds of Biblical prophets, the wisdom of Talmudic sages and philosophers, and heroes of all ages, New Community Jewish High School expects its students and faculty to participate in acts of tzedek (justice) and hesed (loving kindness). Together we are building community, one mind at a time.
